"Omen"
Nem tudom hol olvastam, hogy Shakespeare az avoni hattyú – szerintem vagy Babits vagy Szerb irodalomtörténetében – mindenesetre ellenőriztem. És tényleg Ben Johnson hívta így őt, az édes avoni hattyút. A lényeg: elbuszoztunk Stratford-upon-Avonba, ahol utoljára 1997-ben, a Rózsa őrssel voltam. Kicsi városka Stratford, szinte mindent meg lehet nézni néhány óra alatt: Shakespeare szülőházát, az általa ültetett fát és egyéb helyi érdekességeket. A szülőházban végig kellett menni egy interaktív kiállításon, amire gondolom rengeteg pénz elment, de sajnos a Shakespeare filmadaptációk felvonultatásán kívül kevés érdekes információ volt. A beöltözött teremőröktől több érdekességet megtudtunk. Például, hogy a nyulakat Európából telepítették Angliába a rómaiak. Hogy megkoronázzuk a napot, vettünk új fudge ízeket: narancs-csoki, vanília, toffees. Az enyém sajnos nem volt ilyen szép...
I do not know where did I read that Shakespeare used to be called in his lifetime as the Swan of Avon – anyway I checked it, and really Ben Johnson called him as Sweet Swan of Avon. It fell into my mind because we visited Stratford for a half day where I had been with the Rose group in 1997. Everything can be seen in a few hours in this little town: the birthplace of Shakespeare, the tree planted by himself and other localities. You have to go through an interactive exhibition, before going into the actual place of birth. It seems so that they spent a lot of money on that exhibition, but there was no novelties rather just the crowding of film adaptations. We have learnt more from the costume dressed guides in the house. Such as that the rabbits were brought to England by the Romans. To enjoy the day more we tried some new fudge flavours: orange-chocolate, vanilla, toffee. Mine did not look that good...
