English Cuisine II. - Angel's Delight

I have read about Angel Delight for the first time in Richard Hollingham's Blood and Guts: A History of Surgery (BBC 2009).This popular science book shows the history of professional surgery from the end of the 19th century, that time before anaesthesia and after lobotomy. According to the book the "indeterminate taste" of the English foods of the 1960s was the main reason for a medical discovery, namely that olive oil possesses antibacterial properties!! We tried Angel Delight, a desert with its own indeterminate (chocolate) flavour, and it is actually pretty good - at least as good as the Oetker one ...
